  1. Allow reading of "Assignment Owner" property on assignments through CSOM/REST

    We are updating "Actual work" on tasks and for that we need to be able to programmatically read the "Assignment Owner" property on a given assignment. However - this value is not exposed - not through CSOM, PSI, ProjectData REST API nor ProjectServer REST API. The value returned is always NULL.

    We are integrating time registrations from a 3rd party tool into the project plans/schedule. We do this to allow the Project Managers to keep working in Project Online only - and allow them to keep track on the hours spent on their projects.

    • Acknowledge that people leave, and allow for global replacements of status manager and timesheet approvals.

      e.g. when Suzie leaves the company, allow for a global replacement of status manager on any tasks that carry her name. OR when a Chris has an accident and never returns to work, allow any timesheets that have already been submitted to him but not approved to automatically transition to the new assigned timesheet approver.

        • Agile boards in PWA

          The new agile features added to Project are good for planning. Key aspect of agile is communication in teammembers, so access to the plan/boards for team is very important.
          It can be sufficient just display the boards in project site or in PWA.

            Hi all -

            We’re planning on bringing our boards online – but we want to make sure we do it the right way for you all. We started this in the Client, and we’ll be using feedback on the Client boards features to help bring the boards to Project Online.

            Please continue leaving feedback on the Project Client boards, and we’ll let you know when this feature is available online!

          • Add a 'Submitted' field in oData when using Task Entry (not Timesheets)

            For some key business reasons, we do not use the Timesheet function. However, we would like the ability to know when Task Updates are submitted for weekly periods to be included in the oData so that we can report on submission (versus having to wait for approval from the Status Managers.)

              • Carry forward timesheet project level task to subsequent timesheets

                At the moment, only Administrative tasks are carried forward by default to future timesheets.

                If a user adds using "Select from Existing Assignments" the project level task is not carried forward. It would make the lives of users much easier with the same carry forward feature for all these manually added tasks.

                • Add a simple total to the period when entering time on Task Entry (or Timesheets)

                  The Task entry shows a total hours by Task line but there is no Total for the entire Period. I don't know that Timesheets shows a period total but whether it does or not, it should also be available if a company opts to use Task Entry (versus Timesheets)

                  • Add Timesheet Notification Options in Manage My Alerts and Reminders

                    Submitted on behalf of a client.

                    Similar to task notifications, allow for timesheet notifications in Manage My Alerts and Reminders with similar (appropriate) options.

                    There are currently no notifications to the Timesheet Manager when a timesheet is submitted. The only way to see this is by logging into Project Online and going to the Approvals page. This is not very user friendly and forces the user to "go see" if there are any new timesheets in the system to approve, rather than being informed that there is.

                    • Don't count 0h time entries as Actual Work

                      We like to plan our week ahead by pre-filing our Timesheets. Sometimes, meetings get cancelled (for example) and what was a 1h entry gets set to 0h (Timesheet doesn't allow blanks once something has been entered).

                      The problem is that these 0h entries are counted when calculating the Start Date of the Task; as a result, we are unable to change the STart Date of the Task because we only allow changes via Timesheets.

                      If Actual Work of 0h is submitted, it shouldn't actual count as Actual Work since it is ZERO HOURS. :-)

                      • Sort tasks by alphabetically in the Add an Existing Task screen in timesheets

                        Tasks are sorted by a numeric value in square brackets instead of alphabetically. The numeric value is actually the Unique ID of the task.
                        This is problematic when selecting from a long list of tasks. Another option would be to sort by task Index (not task Unique ID over which the user has no control). Sorting by index would actually provide more flexibility since the display order would be determined by end users in Project Pro.

                        • BUG: Project ID on Timesheet is empty.

                          The Project ID column on the Timesheet view is empty. Each project has a unique ID generated by the Project template. Resources in our company sometimes uses the ID to identify the project as some of our projects have almost similar names but different IDs. This is a bug.

                          • Estimating view needed. It needs to support development of initial estimates, scaling for a new schedule, and de-scaling to improve data.

                            After developing a schedule template, scheduling a past project develops initial estimating data. Scaling that data for future schedules gives fact based estimates, not subjective numbers. Capturing actuals and de-scaling provides a means to improve the template's data. Accumulated data could be graphed to support single point or range estimates. The technique could be similar to the method PriceWatersCooper developed (Summit), sold to IBM, which hid it in favor of Rational. Providing a MS Project estimating feature could really swing market share for Microsoft Project.

                              • iPad integration for time recording on Project Online

                                The current user experience for project online time recording is not great on an iPad. The cells for book8ng time are squeezed to the end of the screen and it is extremely difficult to enter any data in to the boxes. Could there be a way to enhance the mobile and iPad versions of project online to allow for an easier and slicker user experience.

                                • Flexibility of 'Default Timesheet Creation Mode'

                                  Currently Project Online has a 'Default Timesheet Creation Mode' which allows you to default to task, project or no pre-population values.

                                  Our use case would like to see the ability to use a hybrid rather than a global toggle. For example some Projects could be set to used task, and some to use project level timesheet pre-population.

                                  • Hide nonworking time columns in a MS Project chart or view

                                    When planning a short time project, task or activity, nonworking time seems to take so much space that it diminishes all other important information. In Team Planner and Gantt Chart, for example, nonworking time columns take most of the space when following hourly precision tasks. It would be great to be able to Hide or reduce or customize nonworking time columns.

                                      Any news on an Android app for time recording? Also any plans to Intune MAM enable? iOS app does not work with a MAM locked down SharePoint online service.

                                        Can't select any PM as the status manager, until they add a task to the plan. Remove the requirement that a task be created by the resource. Allow for anyone with project edit rights to the project to be selectable in the status manager dropdown or anyone with a PM license.

                                        • Increase Task Duration Precision to 3 Decimal Places

                                          Currently, Project rounds task duration to 2 decimal places, instead of 3. This is a problem when trying to set a duration in days of 1 hr = 0.125 days. Project unfortunately cannot handle durations to 3 decimal places, so it rounds 0.125 days to 0.13 days. This causes an incorrect calculation of the total duration of tasks, as 8 tasks of 0.125 hours each becomes 1.04 days total, instead of 1.00 day.

                                          If Project increases the precision for Task Duration to 3 decimal places, it can correctly handle the smallest common duration increment of 1 hour = 0.125 days.
