Add PeoplePicker fields as custom field type
A new field type in the manner of the SharePoint People/Group column type would help to gather information for reports and workflows. The best would be if you could select either from the entrerprise resource pool, selected categories/groups or from the SharePoint user pool or groups.
A point on top would be, if user selection could also be used in the security model.
This is definitely something we have heard a lot of requests for. We will be looking into this as we go forward.
Thanks again for the great suggestion! We love to hear what everyone has to say.
The Project Team
As an aside, the definitions for our UserVoice statuses are the same as the Visual Studio’s forum, which can be found here:

Status on this? The work around is only for Project Level on the PDP, I need a people picker in the task level. Hard to believe this isnt moving, the demand is there for it.
Here a link for a work around, hope it helps.

Bummer this hasn't really moved.

Any update on this?
Seems crazy that Project Server doesn't have a Person/Group custom field type; we're so used to using these in workflow with SharePoint to customize notifications, automate approvals, create tasks, etc.

Hi Microsoft Project Team,
We wonder what the status is for this improvement?
This would be useful for the Contact field in MSProject. Manually typing a contact's name is prone to error and subsequently grouping, sorting, filtering errors.
People picker to pick from the Project Team Members (similar to the task assignment).

simple picker in the O365 directory just the seach on the name would be great step forward
