How can we improve Project?

Provide support for backup and restore of a single project

Back in the day, in Project Server, there used to be a feature that allowed Project Managers to backup their Projects at a stable state, make as many changes as they want, and in case things go south, restore the project from its previously backed up state.

Can we please have that functionality for Project Online? This is Microsoft cloud after all. How difficult can a backup be?

A major pharma customer of Project Online is requesting this capability. Please float to the top of the list.

Backup and restore single projects and workspace is vital to any organisation that invest time and money in a PPM solution.
As stefan said going back against deprecation of OnPrem feature for Project online should not be discussed. Meanwhile workaround solution such as MPP file export or worse XML export are the only solution, in that case, no garantee of result ,no garanty of loss no version management or simulation is possible without a very expensive third party solution.

        It is a MUST.
It should not be discussed or questioned.
But as always MS is leaving space that Partners can Step-In.

The choice of removing this feature in the online version is very weird. Currently if a plan gets corrupted or there is a user mistake when publishing you have no way to revert back

Would be a very usefull addition! (third party tools are costly solutions for PO users)

Coming from one of the largest BURA environments in Australia (HP on the AFG ATO account) I found it deplorable that Microsoft don't offer some form of backup functionality is not available to users of PoL.

FluentPro has a cloud-based solution for full/partial Backup and Restore of Project Online data, sites and configuration.

We just had an issue where one project from our portfolio was corrupted. We asked for assistance from MS and the only option we had was to restore the entire system from a earlier point in time - for 1 project out of 70+ projects! Needless to say we didn't do that and found a way to restore from someone's recent cached version that thankfully was not corrupted. How responsible is this to have no good way to restore? It also should be something that our IT admins should be capable of doing - if not the Site collection administrators.

Please restore the capability for on premise installations also. Project Managers are not SharePoint administrators.
