Tip and tricks :

  • As soon as you start entering a new idea, a list of similar ideas might show up, allowing you to either vote for an existing idea or create a new one.

      • Supply the Status Manager in the TimesheetLines table on creation/submission of the timesheet.

        Supply the Status Manager in the TimesheetLines table on creation/submission of the timesheet. Currently the status manager only appears after approval of the status update. This would help in governance and support.

          Can't select any PM as the status manager, until they add a task to the plan. Remove the requirement that a task be created by the resource. Allow for anyone with project edit rights to the project to be selectable in the status manager dropdown or anyone with a PM license.

          • Engagements to influence Max Units (Project Level) and Resource Leveling

            Approved resource engagement for a certain project would count as the availability of the resource for the project.
            This will influence:
            1. Max Units in resource sheet (or another field)
            2. Default unit allocation for the task
            3. Resource Leveling
            4. Over allocation indications and graphs

            E.g., if a resource Max Units on the enterprise server is 100% but his approved engagement for my project is 50% then:
            1. In my project, the resource Max Units would show 50%
            2. When I assign the resource to a task, by default it would be assigned with 50% units
            3. When leveling…

            • Showing of inactive tasks in predecessor and successor lists during critical path analysis

              Items that are tagged as "inactive" should either be shown with strikethrough fonts in predecessor successor lists of active tasks, or not shown at all. Currently, it is very confusing to do critical path analysis with inactive tasks in the mix. Another option would be to have a switch setting for the file to inhibit the showing of inactive tasks in predecessor / successor lists.

                • Allow Editing of Multi Line Project Custom Fields in Project Professional

                  Currently Project level text Enterprise Custom Fields with Multiple lines of text cannot be edited in Project Pro nor modified through the COM Object Model. Please add this ability to future versions.

                  • Summary task formatting based on hierarchy level

                    Now it's possible to set summary task formatting through text styles but it depends only on whether task is summary or not. And it would be great if there was an option to set formatting style based on hierarchy level. For example for the 1-st level summary task should have blue background with white text, for the 2-nd — light blue background and grey text. These settings can be saved for a View and don't depend on an opened project.

                      • Make the spell checker dialog box scroll to matching sheet row cell

                        When you use the spell checker, the dialog box opens on screen and ID's a mis-spelled word. But the sheet row cells remain static on screen. It doesn't automatically scroll down to the matching cell where the error is found. (As does other Office programs Excel, Word do.) So you can see the word in context without having to manually scroll to it. (MSP Pro 2016)

                          • Allow Project Sites to be automatically configured when creating new projects in PWA

                            Allow Project Sites to be automatically created/configured when creating new projects in PWA Project Center - at least provide the PWA Admins the ability to activate or deactivate this feature.

                            Right now when a new project is created the end user must edit and publish the schedule in order to create the project site - not the best nor intuitive way to create sites ...

                              • Include custom, work and duration fields in the column choices for a project site task list

                                I'd like my team to have a task view that shows them assignments and due dates, as well as items like Actual Work and Remaining Work. The work fields are not available on the out of the box task list that is generated when publishing to a project site. It would be helpful to also include custom fields and duration fields.

                                • Send email to resources assigned to a selected task

                                  I often want to send a reminder to or request an update from resources assigned to a task. Would be nice to be able to select a task, click a button that says "Send Email", and have an Outlook message start up with the resource names automatically populated in the To line, the task name in the Subject line, and a link to the task in the body of the email. I could then easily type my message and send it.

                                  • Access to multiple PWA instances with Project tile

                                    Scenario for a multinational company with several business entities with only 1 Office 365 tenant.

                                    • As for now, to access any new PWA instance (different from the default PWA instance) through the Office 365 interface,

                                      You can create views of the Project Center where you can add a field with the URL and the link to the Sharepoint site associated with the corresponding project. In this way you can create views to easily identify and filter the sites to which we want to access.

                                        • 'Available to work' should be based on REMAINING WORK, not total WORK

                                          Please design the 'Available to work' feature in the Assign Resource window (i.e., Shortcut key: Alt-F10) and 'Build Team' features in the MS Project client so that it works with 'REMAINING WORK', and not 'WORK' because when e.g., we are looking to replace or add resources on tasks that are active and contain actuals, then the 'Available to work feature' does not work as it should.
