  2. Team Resource management in Resource Center

    The Team Resource function simply doesn't work as one would expect in the Resource Center.

    When I work with teams as a resource manager, I expect to see the work demand on my team (Team Resource assigned to tasks) as well as the committed work on each individual team member (Work Resource in the Team Resource). That way, I can:

    1) Balance the workload and prioritize which tasks should be assigned first from Team to Work Resource

    2) If I have teams across the organization, I can demand plan over the next few years and create scenarios in a simple…

  3. kitchen remodel template

    There is currently no home remodeling or interior design template available, yet many homeowners often remodel kitchens, baths, and other areas in their homes. There is only a new home construction template, which does not really apply here, as furniture, cabinetry, lighting, fixtures, etc, all have to be ordered in a timely fashion, following design and budget programming.

  4. Filter on Status Date - Use "Or Equal To" in the filters

    Filters on dates include "Before Status Date" and "After Status Date" ... However, a task will be missed by the filter if it finishes or starts exactly on the status date to the minute.

    The concern is finish date. Might I suggest the finish filters be "No later than Status Date" So the test becomes <= [Status Date]

    Also, add Status Date to every possible filter with dates, especially when users are creating own filters. This variable should be the target of a filter test.

  5. Resource management for teams

    Resource management for a skill is possible by selecting a generic resource with capacity 0% together with the resources with the matching skill.
    Resource management for a team is not possible that way, because the "head of the team" resource (the (advised: generic) resource with the checked Team Assignment Pool checkbox) is, although selected, not shown in the Capacity Planning views.

    Please make it possible to manage demand and supply of a team by stopping this active filtering of the leader of the team in the Capacity Planning views.

  6. A Common issues / errors cause list availability

    Based on live experience of the escalation teams Microsoft could provide a common causes list regarding synchronisation and publish errors.
    This allows for
    - a more robust template setup
    - easier user training and first line support
    - less calls to MS service centre

  8. For status manager, be able to reject only one day of a timesheet line.

    When a status manager received an approval request, he has to approve or reject the entire timesheet line.

    Sometimes, only one day creates problem but the only way to inform the user is to reject the full line and to type a comment.

  10. Give us, please, an option to make a background image for the Gantt chart

    Give us, please, an option to make a background image for the Gantt chart.

    For example, it would be nice to insert pictures like attached, where cute little kitten and puppy are interestedly examining the Gantt chart bar.
    Also some very sophisticated Gantt charts can be illustrated with the Hedgehog in the fog (see the link).

    It would add fun, joy and feel of happyness into tough job of planners.

  11. Stop Sending Status Updates to Prior Status Manager

    The Status Manager of the schedule is set to the resource setting up the schedule. Once a permanent Owner is assigned, the Status Manager is reset to the new owner. However, the initial Status Manager continues to receive status update notifications for those tasks previously assigned to them.
    Proposed Solution: Discontinue status updates to resources who are no longer the Status Manager over the task. Alternately, provide the ability to opt out of receiving the status updates only of they are not the schedule owner.

  12. Always Display Duration based on User Settings

    Duration fields are displayed inconsistently across summary tasks and tasks. One summary task may show duration in days, another may show it in hours or months. We understand that this is driven by if, and how the duration was entered by the PM. Additionally, calculated fields like Slack also seem to display what appears to be random units of time such as days, weeks, or months.
    Proposed Solution: Provide an option that allows the PM to determine if the schedule will display all durations using the same units/scale, or if the displayed duration should function as it does today displaying…

  13. Option to Display Paid Time Off on Resource Engagement Detail and Summary Views

    I think it would be helpful to display on the Engagement Detail and Summary views the total Paid Time Off (PTO) based on each resource's calendar (sum of Holidays, Vacation, Jury Duty, etc.). Displaying PTO could be optional in these views like “Include proposed bookings” is. If you check the “Include Paid Time Off” box, then a “Paid Time Off” line would be displayed for any resource with planned PTO in the time period being viewed.
    This would give a more complete picture of a resource's total engagements. This would help if the RM is entering a proposed engagement. It…

    It would be really great if you were able to rename the rows on the timesheets and control the display of them independently. This allows you to make the system much more meaningful for customers as you can tailor it for how they classify their data.

    It would be simpler for users as the names will match what they are expecting to use to categorise their time. Currently its very restrictive and you end up having to use standard rows for other purposes e.g. Actual = Billable, Overtime Non Billable = At Risk so that you can correctly classify time…

    Today there is no notification to the Timesheet Manager if a submitted timesheet is recalled by the resource. A notification should be provided.

  17. Enable the leveling engine to adjust assignment units.

    Enable the leveling engine to adjust assignment units. For example, if two concurrent assignments conflict because one demands 50% of a resource's time and the other demands 51%, the leveling engine could adjust the units slightly so that the two assignments would total 100% units and would have only slightly increased durations. As it is now, one assignment would be moved to occur after the other assignment is finished, resulting in a grossly under-loaded resource and significant schedule slip.

  19. MS Project improvement wish list

    MS Project improvement wish list
    I am a professional planner and use MS Project to set-up large projects. It would be nice to get some improvement into the MSP functionality, as follows:
    1. Allow Unique ID as default activity number (to be selected in Options).
    2. Jump to predecessor/Successor (Pred/Succ) from the details window.
    3. Display pred/Succ start & end dated in the details window. In addition.
    4. Mark the leading predecessor.
    5. After implementation of items 4&5 the Inspector may be eliminated.
    6. Until than, the Inspector needs automatic refresh to the Pred/Succ. Urgent!
