Reporting or managing project portfolios is hard
In project for web, one hand things are made easier as compared to project online, on other essential asks like reporting and managing portfolios is not handled in same respect.
we have to essentially found power platform experienced folks to get in to achieve this.
Is this something which Microsoft is trying to also ease out?
Thanks for the feedback on reporting!
We would love to hear more about your reporting needs. What are some reports that you’re missing from Project Online?
Let’s get a discussion going so we can understand how to fulfill those needs.
I would be very useful to have better functionality with roadmap to show status of chosen PFW and PWA projects/tasks as a "master project" with ability to more detail - % complete, dependencies, status (from PWA or PFW), ability to collapse projects within roadmap, milestone icons for milestones (diamonds), possibly a "master timeline" view. The Power BI options are good do not work for our team. I think roadmap can be a viable solution to provide a management overview of all projects but the interface needs work.

As a starting point some easy way of grouping projects into portfolios is needed. Essentially comes down to having more data at project level - ideally including custom fields.
We didn't put in the first comment. However we have similar requirements. We are looking for simple reports like project planning and progress, variance reports, weekly status, risk reports and resource level across projects reports .
CDS is another tech to explore, would be great if Project can have this view in house itself, so its more easy to graphical read the project and team status. There are other apps like jira, trello, wrike, monday.com, which have some great in app reports to compare.
