Based on the feedback given, this is currently back in development and we will provide updates when we have them. We’re working on changing the scheduling behavior for tasks with assignees.

You will be able to set the Effort and Duration to be independent of each other for tasks with assignments. When Effort is set, Duration will not change. We will let you know when this update becomes available.

This isn't completed. It is like the Word team saying they were going to add spell check into Word and marking it complete saying "Complete! Completely works on single word headings". Might be true, but doesn't actually address the users need.

    Hi everyone!

I’d like to understand why you need to edit the schedule in the desktop app, versus just in the web? What key components can be improved for you to work in the web, without needing the client?

If we provided an import from .mpp to the web, would you be able to be successful managing your project in the web? If no, why not?

Thank you! We love hearing your feedback.

Sometimes we want to edit the schedule and not have everyone see the information yet. Sometimes we are working offline while travelling.

Allow users to tag tasks that are then synced to Project for the web. Please don't link a single task to entire plan like the Planner "integration"

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for the feedback on baselines. I’d love to hear more, and get a discussion going to understand the needs and usage here.

What’s the most important set of information in a baseline? How often do you take baselines? How often do you compare baselines?

For those of you who have not previously used the desktop client or Project Online, how have you been tracking baselines on your projects?

    Thanks!

Do you have any suggestions as to how we are supposed to be doing baselines?

An error occurred while saving the comment
    Michael commented  ·

There is no way to do this at present which is one of the reasons it isn't being adopted. If you provide baselines, please ensure that they can't be "co-edited" by anyone. That removes the main purpose of a baseline.

How can we measure if we are on track if we don't have this?

Hi everyone – thanks for the feedback so far. In regards to Planner & Project for the web, we are definitely listening to these scenarios and thinking about how to improve them!

Would helping import from Planner to Project be helpful in this case, and enabling teams to work in Project?

I read a lot of comments on making sure we can leverage full Planner capabilities in Project, team members being able to see and complete their task, and not wanting to “re-write” and “move” tasks over. Are these the most important scenarios for us when thinking about this area?

It would be great to be able to promote a planner plan into project.

In terms of the rest of the capabilities of Planner in project. Many of them would be covered off if we had the ability to add more fields like Excel. Things like priority, attaching documents, flagging tasks as being critical, grouping tasks, etc.

Once a user has been assigned tasks in Planner they can go to one place to see all of their tasks across all of the plans and then report on them. They are also synced into To-Do. This let's them drag those tasks onto their outlook calendar.

It would be great if they could status their project tasks directly from outlook or update their actual hours worked by dragging the project tasks on to outlook.

At present it is super confusing because tasks seem to be randomly spread out all over the place.

    Hi all!

We would love to learn more about this suggestion. What types of Jira projects are you expecting to connect? What type of Jira issues would you want to bring in? What interactions would you expect with the Jira connection in Roadmap?

Any comments and suggestions here would be helpful for us to better understand this scenario.

    Thanks!

If you just supplied a full featured Power Platform connector to Project for the web and/or Project Online than each one of us could flexibly configure the integration in a way that made sense for our organization. It is confusing that when the rest of Microsoft is expanding integration across the ecosystem project seems to be limiting it.

In order to fully make use of Project for the web you need to set the working time for the people on projects. This is impossible to do without also having a Power Apps license. As far as I am aware there are no other products that Microsoft makes that require you to license another product in order to make use of them as designed.

At a minimum Project for the web should include a Power Apps P1 license that allows you to use the Project and Resource hub.

As part of the governance best practice guidelines from the Power Platform team, the default environment should never be used for line of business applications. Instead it should be considered to be a "Personal productivity" environment. Among the reasons for this is that it is automatically created by the first user who accesses the Common Data Service in the region closest to them. For large global clients this means that the default instance might be in an inappropriate data center. Security is also harder to control with the default instance. When new users sign up to a trial license of Power Apps they are automatically added to the Maker role within the default instance.

Comment from a user today "We never are going to work on a task for a full day. Right now it assumes you will. That makes what you showed us actually harder to figure out our schedule not easier"

    Michael commented  ·

At present it is very confusing for users.

The usual/most common situation we have is that we want to be able to say when it needs to be completed and how many hours it takes. We then figure out on our own how many hours a day we will then work on it. Some days we might put in more than a full day. Other days less. If we need more people to help we will add them to the task.

The next most common case would be having the system tell us when we will be done.

If we change how much work we think something is we never want the end date to change by default that is just really frustrating. It makes us want to go back and use excel as we can control what that does.

    Hi everyone!

Today, we added improved Roadmap zooming! If you go to your Roadmap, you’ll be able to zoom out to multiple stops and views, and as far out as 6 years!

Thank you for everyone who shared their feedback and scenarios – please let us know what you think.

If you can't do this, people will just use PowerBI or manually do it with Excel.

    Hi everyone!

Thank you for your continued feedback here. We are working on enabling you to create and use custom fields in Project for the web.

While we don’t have an ETA quite yet, we will provide one as soon as we can.

As always, let us know if you have any more feedback (on this suggestion, or other suggestions).

One of the reasons people use Excel to provide dashboards is that they can go in and add columns with project information as needed.

The reason they use excel to track tasks is for the same reason. They don't have to fight with it to get it to display the information they want and has the added benefit of being "free".

If they can't add fields, or it is frustrating to do so, they will revert back to Excel since it does what they want.

In terms of project for the web we would just require task and project level fields. Resource level project fields are only really needed for more sophisticated management

    Hi everyone!

I’m updating this to “partially complete” as we have finished rolling out the “Copy Project” feature. You can access this by opening a project, clicking on the title to open the details pane, hitting the “…” in the top corner, and then the Copy command.

You can get more details, tips and tricks here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project-blog/copying-projects-in-project-for-the-web/ba-p/1477766

We’re still thinking about the specific templates scenario and reading your comments below. Please try the feature out and let us know what other feedback/improvements can be made.

Well... the majority of the competitive products have the idea of templates so there is that. A template provides a predefined series of tasks according to some criteria. It also then provides something to measure against to ensure that the standards represented by the template are followed. It also allows for easier adoption of the system and more widespread use across the organization since new staff will know what to expect when managing projects, events, product launches, board meetings, new construction etc. in such a way that meets standards. Having templates is one of the key parts that makes a system easy to use. I can start out with a list of tasks and deliverables and know I am doing the right thing. It also feeds into a lessons learned/gradual improvement process. ie. I just ran this event, we missed these three things, we had better add them into the event template for next time. It is one of the first things all of the non-traditional project managers we have shown the product to ask for as they are used to starting out with templates for word documents, excel spreadsheets, etc.

You could even make this work like how Power Automate does over time and have a list of the templates provided by Microsoft (and others) and list how often they have been used. This then becomes another competitive advantage for the product.

Every project we do across all roles would be made more efficient by starting from a template. Estimating, construction, marketing, new products, etc.

    Hi everyone,

This is currently in development, and we will provide updates when we have them. Additionally, we have just announced that we are supporting read-only access for Projects & Roadmaps with an O365 license. This will start rolling out next month, which will be beneficial for Teams View Access once we complete this! You can learn more here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=60646

Thanks for the votes, we’re definitely thinking about this one. If we had an import to Project button, would this improve your experience in the Web? Would you be able to be successful managing your projects purely in the web? If not, why not? If you would still need the client, why?

    Hi everyone!

This is something we’re thinking about – but we’d love more feedback from you.

Can you share specific scenarios that you need for resourcing? What information do you need to be successful? What actions do you take as a result of this information?

Please share detailed scenarios for us to understand what you need, this will be very helpful to us as we improve Project!

    Hi everyone!

There are a lot of asks in this thread, and I wanted to assure you we are looking at all of them. As an update, I wanted to share what items are “planned” in the shorter term. This includes Teams Integration, Attachments, Notifications, Group By “Assigned To”. We are also “in development” for Custom Fields- which will allow you to create a Priority field. Other asks on this thread are a bit farther out to share details on, so don’t worry – we are evaluating everything you’re asking for!

Please continue to share your feedback!

Not so concerned with checklists (those can be sub tasks) and I believe comments are there? Attachments would be great.
