    Hi everyone!

This is something we’re thinking about – but we’d love more feedback from you.

Can you share specific scenarios that you need for resourcing? What information do you need to be successful? What actions do you take as a result of this information?

Please share detailed scenarios for us to understand what you need, this will be very helpful to us as we improve Project!

It would be nice to have a resource dashboard to view each resource and their assignment, similar to how how roadmap currently lays out individual projects on top of each other.

Forecasting is critical with this feature! Being able to track resource availability and project demand side by side is key, but may be better resolved through something like Power BI.

Our organization is exploring such functionality with Power BI to to relate data from our payroll application with what's available in P4W to create reports that can drill down to individual resources, projects or managers. We're hopeful P4W continues to give us more data!

    Hi everyone!

I’m updating this to “partially complete” as we have finished rolling out the “Copy Project” feature. You can access this by opening a project, clicking on the title to open the details pane, hitting the “…” in the top corner, and then the Copy command.

You can get more details, tips and tricks here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project-blog/copying-projects-in-project-for-the-web/ba-p/1477766

We’re still thinking about the specific templates scenario and reading your comments below. Please try the feature out and let us know what other feedback/improvements can be made.

It would be nice to have this feature for project opens, or to append an existing one from a template. Having this would allow a project to naturally evolve as it changes phase, minimize clutter during the project life cycle, and allow flexibility for larger projects.

I can see having multiple templates available for project type or phase that can be appended to the project as needed. Basically using templates as building blocks.

As for task assignment, having ghost roles would be the best case with using templates. Opening up another conversation about resources here, but those ghost roles could be assigned to group members after the project is created and avoids adding members to a project that were from an existing project (an scenario if you were to use copy project I expect).

Having a dashboard for resource roles and group members would be ideal to "batch" assign by role, but that's getting away from this topic...

I agree whatever you can get done quicker would be best (CDS, Copy Project or Templates). This is a main reason why our organization hasn't implemented P4W.

    Hi everyone!

Today, we added improved Roadmap zooming! If you go to your Roadmap, you’ll be able to zoom out to multiple stops and views, and as far out as 6 years!

Thank you for everyone who shared their feedback and scenarios – please let us know what you think.

You can now create local custom fields for your tasks!

Under the “Add Column” button in the grid, you’ll find a new menu option to create a New Field. Click it!

    - Add dates, numbers, text, and flags to help you organize your work
-Filter tasks by the contents of your fields
-If you have limited screen real estate, edit the values for fields in the task details pane

Having a feature to show slippage is a must to track the effectiveness of your schedule. It also adds a layer of accountability to show where a schedule went astray. It would be a nice feature to have a slicer to select previous baselines that can be compared to the latest. Previous baselines could be shown ghosted behind the newest to show the impact of a schedule change or hold.

It would be nice to have this feature to begin new projects from a template or to append an existing one from a template. Having this would allow a project to naturally evolve as it changes phase, and it would minimize clutter throughout the life cycle of a project.

I can see having templates available for each type of project and phase that can be appended to the project as needed.

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for the feedback on baselines. I’d love to hear more, and get a discussion going to understand the needs and usage here.

What’s the most important set of information in a baseline? How often do you take baselines? How often do you compare baselines?

For those of you who have not previously used the desktop client or Project Online, how have you been tracking baselines on your projects?

    Thanks!

    Hi all!

We just announced that anyone with an O365 license or Plan 1 license will soon be able to access Roadmaps in read only. You can learn more here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=60646

Regarding the other scenario in this thread (re: everyone that has access to a roadmap can modify everything), we are still thinking about this and similar scenarios, so please keep sharing your feedback and experiences!

    Thanks!

Hi everyone – thanks for the feedback so far. In regards to Planner & Project for the web, we are definitely listening to these scenarios and thinking about how to improve them!

Would helping import from Planner to Project be helpful in this case, and enabling teams to work in Project?

I read a lot of comments on making sure we can leverage full Planner capabilities in Project, team members being able to see and complete their task, and not wanting to “re-write” and “move” tasks over. Are these the most important scenarios for us when thinking about this area?

Project's current integration with Planner links an entire Planner board/plan to a single task in Project. It would be a valuable feature to have options of selecting either an individual task, a bucket or entire board when linking a task in Project to Planner.

Another way of thinking about it would be to have a feature that allows the user to create a Planner task from the selected task(s) in Project. This would have to allow for a multiple selection and the ability to choose which Planner board and bucket it would be linked to. Ideally this feature should be available in P4W.
