Hi everyone – thanks for the feedback so far. In regards to Planner & Project for the web, we are definitely listening to these scenarios and thinking about how to improve them!

Would helping import from Planner to Project be helpful in this case, and enabling teams to work in Project?

I read a lot of comments on making sure we can leverage full Planner capabilities in Project, team members being able to see and complete their task, and not wanting to “re-write” and “move” tasks over. Are these the most important scenarios for us when thinking about this area?

    @Adam Specht,

Agreed 100%. Just want to add that when something does show up in that task tool from Project, the user should be able to update items assigned to them (I say this because Project requires a license. One of the reasons for 'planner' integration, or integration into the task tool is to be able have someone on the team update a task assigned to them without having to have the full project license.

I agree with Nicolas. As I as project manager create a project in Project Plan 1 or Plan 3, task assignments should be able to appear in a Planner plan that the whole team can see for task assignment. As those tasks get updated in Planner, I should be able to see that in Plan 1 to view how my project plan's dependencies are tracking against each other etc., and so I can then communicate to the team where we may need to make adjustments, refocus, etc in order to stay on track, but them being able to feed updates to the Plan 1 project plan through their planner tasks would be critical to a cohesive system. I really like the new Plan 1, but its got a big hole in it right now by lacking that Planner integration that minimizes its usefulness.

    Hello everyone!

Thanks for your feedback! You can now customize and extend the Project app without purchasing additional Power Apps licenses, making it easier for your organization to tailor Project Plan 5, Project Plan 3, and Project Plan 1 to meet your business needs.

Read more about this on our blog: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project-blog/customizing-and-extending-the-project-app-just-became-more/ba-p/1878008

The read only access is great. Now I just need nonprofit pricing for Plan 1 and things would be perfect for our cross dept project teams. I look forward to greater Microsoft Teams and PowerAutomate integration with Project Web.

    Hi all!

Thanks for the suggestion. We’d love to understand more around this scenario.

Would you be adding tasks and milestones? Do you ever expect to connect this row to a project, or create a project? What happens after the proposal state to the row? Why else would you be creating blank rows and tasks? Would you have a roadmap with both types of rows?…

The comments below are very helpful already, so please keep them coming! We want to better understand why customers need this scenario fulfilled.

Agree, when I think of a roadmap, it is showing the current and future forecasted projects for a few quarters. That necessitates being able to visualize forecasted projects that have not launched yet. So yes, it would be great if we could create a forecasted project (I would be ok with just a start and end date, being able to designate stages and milestones would be great too, but at the very least, start and end date). This could then act as a launching board for a new project that could inherit the information forecasted as a starting point for the project.

It could also lead to future functionality of being able to take those forecasted projects and have them in a backlog of project that gets priority applied against them so that it can become a tool to determine which forecasted projects from the roadmap get approved to become an active project (not everything from the backlog would be represented on the roadmap, but all forecast items on the roadmap would be in the backlog, and you would priortize backlogged items to determine what gets approved to become an active project).

this seems to be a limitation. I also have users outside of the group I would like to be able to assign without adding them to the group. I also have external guest users in the Team/Project that I would like to be able to assign, but can't right now. It would be great if we could do so through generic resources (non O365 group resource, even if just a text field). Or alternatively be able to have a custom column where we could create a field like this ourselves.

I believe you already can copy plans. Go to the pane where you can update the project plan name, and then just to the top right, click on the 3 dots (ellipses) and one of the options is to copy plan. I just did it the other day. I say I 'believe' because I have plan3, but the functionality appears for me in Project Web, so assume it is there for Plan 1 users as well. Hope that helps.

Agree with the need, and although the admin indicating that Project is available to everyone with a license in the tenent for read-only viewing is good, it doesn't solve the need. A few different needs:
    1) Need to be able to assign a task to an external person, or at least to a placeholder that is not an internal user, as we perform projects with many 3rd parties and need to be able to indicate tasks assigned to them. Even if 3rd parties can't see or interact with the plan, I need to be able to be able to track their tasks internally.
    2) It would be great if they could be able to see the plan. My use case is I create a team for a project, and I list my project plan in a Project tab in the team. It would be great if guests to that team had read access to the plan in that tab just as the rest of the team did.
    3) It would be even better if 3rd parties could update tasks assigned to them, but getting #1 or #1 and #2 above would satisfy the vast majority of my use cases.
    2) I
