Hi David. We also had this requirement but were able to satisfy it creating a quick custom report using Power BI. There is a connector from Power BI to P4W so it is fairly easy to get at the data. The report format we create attached FYI.

I don't know if this is an option for you but if it is, here is the link on how to set up the connection: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/project-for-the-web/connect-to-project-for-the-web-data-through-powerbi-desktop

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for all of your feedback – we are planning on adding an “export” feature for Project for the web based on your comments. We will update you with more details as soon as we can!

Also – a quick reminder that we have been rolling out read only access for those with an O365 license (and Plan 1 license for Roadmap view access)

Scenario 1. I believe this is pretty much duplicated by another idea "Guest Access to Projects " at this link.

    https://microsoftproject.uservoice.com/forums/914203-project-for-the-web/suggestions/38925637-guest-access-to-projects

Scenario 2. We'd like to be able to print project plans (the schedule view mostly) to a PDF. For us the RoadMap is not as critical. Saving off projects periodically to PDF is a workable baseline and plan versioning method for us. It would be particularly useful if the print functionality allowed you to filter for a bucket.

Just chiming in that we have the same requirement. Our external users are clients we are working with on projects and these individuals do not have licenses on our Office365 tenant. Read-only access would be the default and in our use-cases, that is all they need. If they have to setup a Microsoft Account that would be OK but we'd be fine with an option to share via a link only and no login in some cases.

This idea is largely a duplicate of this one.

    https://microsoftproject.uservoice.com/forums/914203-project-for-the-web/suggestions/38978338-project-for-the-web-tasks-effort-not-linked-to-d

"M" - for additional information requirements I suggest reviewing the other link as well.

    Thanks

Based on the feedback given, this is currently back in development and we will provide updates when we have them. We’re working on changing the scheduling behavior for tasks with assignees.

You will be able to set the Effort and Duration to be independent of each other for tasks with assignments. When Effort is set, Duration will not change. We will let you know when this update becomes available.

Ominous silence from Microsoft. When MS marks an item "COMPLETED", even if the actual requirement was completely missed by the analysts working on it, does it mean it will never be revisited again and a new post is required?

I'm also confirming the feature is not complete. The original request from Flo stated the business requirement well I think. It is very common for resources to be shared across projects. I am not sure why the requirement was interpreted as not linking effort and duration only when no resources are entered. In our experience project plans are a lot more effective when resources are specified :-) One of the things I really like about P4W is its simplicity and I don't want to bring in every feature MS Project has but not being able to partially assign resources is a show-stopper for us and I suspect many others. Maybe include an option to make a task "Fixed Duration"?

    Hi everyone!

This is something we’re thinking about – but we’d love more feedback from you.

Can you share specific scenarios that you need for resourcing? What information do you need to be successful? What actions do you take as a result of this information?

Please share detailed scenarios for us to understand what you need, this will be very helpful to us as we improve Project!

We also share the requirement to manage resources but would prefer to see Power BI components take on cross-project utilization, capacity and availability rather than adding this complexity to th base product.

What makes P4W compelling is the quick adoption possible by non-PMs because its interface is so simple. We'd like to see it stay simple and not develop into a web-UI version of Project Professional.

Resource Management is primarily a PM function and our experience is that built-in analysis is unlikely to provide all the flexibility needed anyway so let Power BI provide an out-of-the-box starting point and let us fine-tune from there. The Power BI package released recently is an awesome start.

The biggest problem with Resource Management at the moment is that resources can only be assigned 100%. As soon as that problem is fixed, we will be giving this toolset at try (see also https://microsoftproject.uservoice.com/forums/914203-project-for-the-web/suggestions/38978338-project-for-the-web-tasks-effort-not-linked-to-d)

    Hi everyone,

This is currently in development, and we will provide updates when we have them. Additionally, we have just announced that we are supporting read-only access for Projects & Roadmaps with an O365 license. This will start rolling out next month, which will be beneficial for Teams View Access once we complete this! You can learn more here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=60646

    Thank you!

    Hi everyone!

I’m updating this to “partially complete” as we have finished rolling out the “Copy Project” feature. You can access this by opening a project, clicking on the title to open the details pane, hitting the “…” in the top corner, and then the Copy command.

You can get more details, tips and tricks here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project-blog/copying-projects-in-project-for-the-web/ba-p/1477766

We’re still thinking about the specific templates scenario and reading your comments below. Please try the feature out and let us know what other feedback/improvements can be made.
