Hi everyone!
This is something we’re thinking about – but we’d love more feedback from you.
Can you share specific scenarios that you need for resourcing? What information do you need to be successful? What actions do you take as a result of this information?
Please share detailed scenarios for us to understand what you need, this will be very helpful to us as we improve Project!

Hello everyone!
Thanks for your feedback! You can now customize and extend the Project app without purchasing additional Power Apps licenses, making it easier for your organization to tailor Project Plan 5, Project Plan 3, and Project Plan 1 to meet your business needs.
Read more about this on our blog: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project-blog/customizing-and-extending-the-project-app-just-became-more/ba-p/1878008

I agree with this. Sadly, I think we all need to be driving our leaders to purchase different software. Microsoft doesn't understand they would make more money by having a product people would want to widely adopt in volume subscription dollars vs. having a small user based paying for combinations of licenses that get so costly a competing product is cheaper by more than 50%.
One of my current projects is helping a business unit by this type of software, and we're trying to get approval to buy something else. Our Enterprise PMO bought something else.
You shouldn't even need these things. Project should just work and do things out of the box with a simple and intuitive user experience without needing an IT background to get things done.

Hi everyone!
I have read through the comments, and we have a new update that may benefit some on this thread.
We have just announced that we are supporting read-only access for Projects & Roadmaps with an O365 license within a tenant. You can learn more here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/project-for-the-web/office-365-user-view-access-to-project-and-roadmap

People need to start being more blunt with feedback. View only for O365 licensed people it somewhat helpful, until you look at the fact that a lot of people are working with EXTERNAL clients.
Other options not only allow view only to that population, but if that external client has tasks they are responsible for that are being tracked, they can update their status WITHOUT a paid license on most platforms these days.I am not going to request a licenses and pay for it for someone who might need it for a few weeks while they are assigned to deliver a one time work product to never need to do anything again. Then I have to have that license revoked after paying for them to be able to update thier status. Instead, this creates time consuming follow up via email for a Project Manager and manual labor to constantly update and follow up on everything. It is very counter intuitive to the whole O365 collaboration experience.
Yet, I can use a competing product that is lower cost, more feature rich, connect it to Team's and Power BI and accomplish everything above and be more productive and store file attachments and have comments on line items in a plan, plus collaborate on documents with a team, but not in the Microsoft world????
A year later and Project for the web is still a quarter baked product. The desktop app is still everyone's go to, and the SharePoint dependency for getting projects in the cloud with that route is awful.

We have started to look at Smart sheet and ditch Microsoft project because of all these pitfalls. Smart sheet lets anyone feel your project plan and update a task without having a license or review our report dashboard that it automatically creates without having a license. These are glaring shortcomings of the Microsoft solution and if you don’t do something about them you’re going to start to lose a lot of business. Those features might actually attract more business if you bother to add them.

Hi everyone!
Thank you for your feedback. For now, you can use an API through Powershell to import .mpp files in Project for the web. You can learn more here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project-blog/import-project-desktop-files-to-project-for-the-web-api/ba-p/2031298
We are also looking into other ways to support import. Stay tuned for future updates.

"Would you be able to be successful managing your projects purely in the web? If not, why not? If you would still need the client, why?"
You really need to look at your competitors and thier feature sets. SmartSheet/Airtable allows import and export of mpp files, and are both far superior and better product.
Yes, this improves things. Who wants to manually re-write project plans in the web interface? No body. I may have a past project in the desktop that is a year old, and today get assigned a new project that is essentially the same. I can copy and paste the old project to a new project in the desktop, or save as and make changes, and in seconds be ready to go. I cannot do this in the web.

PS You have this marked completed and it is not. What you did made things worse

How did you launch this product without the ability to toggle off effort related progress??????
Any project I have where I want to manually update completion percentage is maddening because every little change (dates!!!) makes it recalculate effort and changes all my stuff and then I need to manually change it back.
Microsoft has done some half baked applications, but this has to be the king of them all. This product is not even beta worthy in it's execution.
Just buy SmartSheet and rename it, because that product is what this should actually be.

Hi all!
For all new projects, you are now able to set Effort and Duration independently of each other for tasks with assignments. When Effort is set, Duration will not change.

This is NOT at all completed.
THe ask is to have a manual mode, which this product does not. We want to turn off effort entirely.

Hi everyone!
We’ve heard your ask for boards, and we understand that its an important way to work.
We just launched the new Project, with a redesigned user experience that is simple and intuitive. Teams can quickly add new members and set up tasks, and then easily switch between grids, boards, or timeline (Gantt) charts to track progress.

Hi everyone – thanks for the feedback so far. In regards to Planner & Project for the web, we are definitely listening to these scenarios and thinking about how to improve them!
Would helping import from Planner to Project be helpful in this case, and enabling teams to work in Project?
I read a lot of comments on making sure we can leverage full Planner capabilities in Project, team members being able to see and complete their task, and not wanting to “re-write” and “move” tasks over. Are these the most important scenarios for us when thinking about this area?

Two way feeds from project to planner and planner to project are critical. I should not have to pay a seven dollar a month license for somebody to update a task status or assign it to them and force them to use an entire different app. Pretty much every project management solution these days allows this except for Microsoft. Planner is great because you can throw it into a Microsoft team site and people doing work on your project can just update it right from Teams in the planner app. Planner is great because you can throw it into a Microsoft teams site and people doing work on your project can just update it right from Teams in the planner app. If the update and planner and updates my project plan that’s a huge timesaver and brings a great deal of efficiency. Competing projects like Smart sheet allow a form to be sent automatically based upon a trigger action such as date that makes the person assigned a task update it and automatically updates your project plan saving huge amount of time. All without requiring that person to have a license which is great when you work with external clients and vendors as I do All without requiring that person to have a license which is great when you work with external clients and vendors as I do Project really fall short of pretty much every competing platform on the market and you really need to fix some of these things. I’m really pushing to get approval to purchase Smart sheet and switch because of it as smart she might save me 20 hours on a project and projects SharePoint dependence adds 20 hours to a project that shouldn’t be there I’m really pushing to get approval to purchase Smart sheet and switch because of it as smart she might save me 20 hours on a project and project SharePoint dependence adds 20 hours to a project that shouldn’t be there

Hi everyone!
We really appreciate your feedback about this topic.
Everyone now has the ability to add attachments to tasks in Project for the web!
We are also looking into bringing other Planner features into Project for the web. Please keep letting us know what you would like to see.

You can now create local custom fields for your tasks!
Under the “Add Column” button in the grid, you’ll find a new menu option to create a New Field. Click it!
- Add dates, numbers, text, and flags to help you organize your work
-Filter tasks by the contents of your fields
-If you have limited screen real estate, edit the values for fields in the task details paneLearn more here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project-blog/announcing-custom-fields-for-your-tasks/ba-p/1680549

I don't understand the admin's inquiry. Why was this an essential feature in the desktop? That is the answer to your question. It's still the same essential feature with the same use.
Users are forced to bounce between two or three platforms that all have different features and none of them are great.
